Blockchain and cryptoasset consultancy DigitalX has appointed corporate lawyer Toby Hicks as non-executive chairman of the company.
Effective immediately, Mr Hicks has replaced Peter Rubinstein as non-executive chairman, with Mr Rubinstein remaining on the board as non-executive director.
Hr Hicks was previously director of DigitalX from August 2016 to September 2018.
“We are extremely pleased to have Toby Hicks rejoin the DigitalX board with his unique skill set in corporate governance and regulatory expertise in the blockchain industry,” said DigitalX CEO Leigh Travers.
“This is a huge step forward for the company and Mr Hicks brings an in-depth understanding of the regulations around our core blockchain business, backed by years of experience advising in the digital asset space.”
Mr Hicks has been a corporate lawyer advising public companies for more than 15 years and is currently a partner of Steinepreis Paganin, a law firm specialising in financial services matters.
He is also a former Governor of the University of Notre Dame Australia, a position he held for 16 years. Mr Hicks was a member of the university’s audit and finance committee for 14 years and was a member of the Law School Advisory Board.
Last year the University of Notre Dame Australia named the Toby Hicks Service to Student Community Award in honour of his more than 23 years of contribution to the university.
As part of his appointment to the DigitalX board, Mr Hicks will be issued with 7.5 million performance rights, automatically capable of conversion on DigitalX’s shares trading on ASX.
